Dearest JoAnn,
I think you know how precious you and Doug have been to us these past 2 years. You are the folks we spent the most time with in our time on the road and, as we discussed more than once, there was a very special connection there. We were so blessed to have gotten to spend time with you in Alabama, Tennessee and twice in Arizona. Doug had such a depth of spirit and love for living. He will always have a place in our hearts, as do you. We felt, particularly in Arizona, that Doug was really savoring those last months, and we felt honored to share them with him. One of my favorite memories of Doug is just sitting with him in the glorious silence of the Saguaros basking in their energy. He was very lucky to have you with him on your adventures these past years. You were a great example to us of love, commitment and making every moment count. I’m sorry we can’t be there with you now but please know that we are with you in spirit and you are in our thoughts without end at this time.

Dearest JoAnne and family,
I am heartbroken at Doug's passing. As hard as it is for the ones left behind, he is at peace now. His strength and courage was amazing. I offer hugs from afar for all his loved ones. Be consoled that his spirit touched so many of us. I am so grateful that I had a chance to know and love him.

Words cannot express the sorrow that learning of Doug's passing has left with us and the whole RVing community. We only met Doug briefly in Arizona but have kept up with his blog every time he posted. He was a good man. I'm so glad that you had your years on the road together doing what you enjoyed. RIP Doug. May God be with your family and friends.

JoAnn and family....know our hearts are with you. We both know how difficult it is to lose a spouse as well as parents. We are blessed for having known Doug. Please remember my favorite saying that I used after Mike died. It's a quote from Theodor Geisel, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." We celebrate Doug's life and the lessons he taught us all. Love to you all!
